Who We Are

Purrfect Match is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue group in Millington, Tennessee (home to a major US Navy base - NSA MidSouth). We rescue cats and kittens who are homeless or from overcrowded shelters and provide them with veterinary care, housing, and socialization until they are ready for adoption.

We do some local adoptions ourselves, but many of our cats and kittens go to our trustworthy rescue partners to find their forever homes.

We operate solely on donations and your generosity helps us save precious feline lives!

Our Story

The rural region of West Tennessee is critically over-populated with cats and kittens, and many regional shelters are understaffed and underfunded. Overcrowded conditions often result in the unfortunate euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals.

During our first ten years of operation, our focus was on local cat adoptions. Eventually, we realized that we could better serve the homeless cats in our region by becoming a way station of healing! Our Volunteer Executive Director, Jill Spencer, diligently researched many cat adoption agencies in regions with better-managed cat populations and more resources for felines in need.

Now, we have ongoing relationships with organizations in New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island. Purrfect Match began transporting cats to New England in 2015 and now has rescued and transported well over 4,000 cats! Today, our dedicated volunteers continue to coordinate transports of 40-50 cats about four to five times a year to our partner adoption organizations in New England.

Our Organization

Purrfect Match is governed by a five-member volunteer board of directors that meets regularly. All board members are donors as well as ambassadors for Purrfect Match. Two board members are CPA’s, guaranteeing strong financial responsibility for all contributions. Purrfect Match is also a member of the Millington Chamber of Commerce.

Milestones

In 2013, we were able to expand our rescue efforts when we secured an 800 sq. ft space in Millington, TN. We were thrilled to help area shelters save more felines!

In 2022, we occupied a new facility in the heart of Millington, TN. It has 2,500 sq. ft., over three times the size of our former location. With this expansion, Purrfect Match continues to be volunteer-powered but now can house up to 50 cats at our facility (up from around 30 at our former location).
