Grey Ghost

This sweet cat was found after being hit by a car and subsequently brought to the Brownsville/Haywood County Animal Shelter. He had bones protruding from his left front leg and the area was badly infected.

His sad shelter pic

Purrfect Match was alerted to his situation and one of our volunteers hurried to the shelter to get him and transport him to our vet clinic. This medical care was just in time for Grey Ghost since not only was the leg past saving but he was also severely anemic and needed an immediate blood transfusion! He was hospitalized for about a week as the transfusion was completed and he stabilized enough for amputation surgery. Once he was discharged, we got him settled into our Millington facility (MeowHouse) where we enjoyed getting to know this friendly, gentle cat as he recovered. In that amazingly resilient way of cats, Grey Ghost adapted to life as a tripod easily and after recuperating with us for several months, we knew he was ready for a home! We were thrilled when he was accepted by one of our New England adoption partners – Rhode Island based Ten Lives Cat Rescue – and all went well with his transport journey and adjustment to life as a New Englander. Grey Ghost is now settled in a permanent home and with the new name of“Miso” and his parents say that he has made himself completely at home and his favorite pasttimes are playing with his two canine brothers, snuggling with his dad and being spoiled rotten!
